April 9 – A Falafel Brunch and Cafeneto with Miriam

Avi,
(Miriam’s husband) picked me up at 10:30am to take me to his home for
brunch. On our way, he stopped at a
strange location where there were closed shops as it was Shabbat. I followed
him without knowing whereto, and suddenly found myself in front of a street vendor
selling Falafel off the frying pan. I noticed that the cooks were Israeli
Arabs, and handled the frying pot with machine-like efficiency, in order to
produce hundreds of balls for those in line.
Avi and I arrived at this home holding 30 balls, and Miriam had set the
table beautifully. We had a great time together, eating, drinking and chatting.
After a nap, Miriam offered to drive me home, yet we ended up spending women
time together at a lovely restaurant called Cafeneto. We shared a delicious salad and a cheesecake.
Sunday,
April 10, 2016 – I had real difficulty feeling that Sunday was a working day,
rather than a weekend. I felt tired all
day with little desire to go out or socialize, so I listened to my inner voice.
I used this time to organize my
belongings, do laundry and tidy up the apartment that was entrusted to me
without hesitation. I had sad and
reflective moments, but overall, peace of mind.
