In
the morning, I walked to the main road to explore the area. The Avenue is
called “Tayasim” (Avenue of Pilots in Hebrew.) Before me appeared the quiet and peaceful
Ariel Sharon Park, where I took several photos admiring the garden-like
setting, the birds, trees and flowers. I returned home in a rush to shower, as Miriam
was picking me up to take me to the planned Shabbat picnic at the Park Menahem
Begin. I was ecstatic to meet Miriam, a wonderful and loyal friend, and the
extended family. They put together a
spread of good food, including barbecued meats and a variety of salads. I connected with the three grandchildren, and
was especially captivated with the 8-month old baby girl whose smile and good
nature robbed my heart. Miriam suggested
that I sleep over, but I truly wanted to come home, and she was extremely
supportive of my wishes. We agreed to meet
the next day to share more time together, given that she works all week.
